BARIATRIC AND WEIGHT LOSS COUNSELING
Welcome to the DFW WAIT LOSS W-A-I-T Management 12-Week Trauma-Focused/ Solution Focused Counseling Program.
It can be very difficult for individuals to reach their weight loss goals independent of the right support team. This program and network of providers were created to meet the needs of individuals who have a desire to lose weight but may not have the appropriate support in place. This program focuses to help the patient meet their needs from a holistic approach addressing every area including past trauma, mental health, dietary needs, physical fitness, and medical needs. Integrating Behavioral Health into the treatment plan gives the patient a better chance of success due to the mind-body connection and it enhances the whole person.
Childhood Trauma has been linked to obesity. This program will benefit Women who have past trauma and are struggling with their weight loss journey including maintaining their ideal weight or have made the decision to have Bariatric Surgery.

Many individuals that have completed Bariatric surgery do not have the continued support in place to be successful on their journey. According to the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, there are many misconceptions. There are many that succeed in their weight loss journey and some that fail. Exploring risks and mental health barriers are needed to address problem areas for greater success.
Additional services include,
providing ongoing support services to patients to continue to encourage them on their journey. Counseling services are being offered on behalf of Abundance of Hope Counseling Service owned by Chikeitha Owens Licensed Professional Counselor and a Certified Bariatric Counselor Certified by the American Association of Bariatric Counselors.
